Personal Interests

Outside of the office, Dr. D’Alessio enjoys spending time with her husband and four children. As a family, they love to travel and spend time at the beach or stay in and bake cookies while watching their favorite T.V. shows. When she gets time completely alone, she loves to read, take long walks or paint…you might catch some of her works hanging in her office.

Dr. D’Alessio is a Pulmonologist providing excellent care for patients with lung disease in the Shenandoah Valley and surrounding areas. She is board certified in both Pulmonary and Critical Care, in addition to her original board certification in Internal Medicine.

As such, she has worked in all of these areas throughout her career. Originally trained in New York and Boston at NYU, Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and Boston University, the doctor, and her family moved to Winchester, Virginia in 2001. Here she has worked first with a large group of Pulmonologists seeing both inpatient and outpatient pulmonary patients, as an Intensivist, or ICU specialist, spending 12-hour shifts with the sickest patients in the hospital, and also spent some time working in the Martinsburg VA ICU.

In 2014, Dr. D’Alessio decided that her skills would best serve the community as a solo, outpatient Pulmonary practitioner. She has a real interest in taking the time to listen to the patient, an art which she feels has somehow fallen by the wayside in this era of medicine. She feels the patient really knows their own body best and therefore focuses her attention on all the details that may help to address the patient’s concerns and illnesses.

Dr. D’Alessio performs a comprehensive history and physical exam in addition to reviewing any previous tests and X-rays or CT scans which may have been performed prior to the patient’s visit. There is a Board Certified Respiratory Therapist in her office who performs pulmonary function testing, often on the same day as the patient sees the doctor. These tests are also reviewed and gone over with each patient. The doctor then formulates an individual treatment plan to address the specific needs of each patient.
